The York Project Great Room Reveal

Design

Introducing our York Project! We’re so excited to bring you into this home today, starting in the great room.

Our clients for this home were so fun to work with. They have a beautiful young family and we wanted to give them a custom, designer look that not only stands the test of time, but one that is also practical for their young children and pets.

The design goal for this home was to create a beautiful home that flowed from space to space, with a neutral palette that pops. This can sometimes be a challenge when you do neutral everywhere; often the look you’re hoping to achieve can fall short. But one of our fortes at House Sprucing is nailing a neutral color palette. We do this by bringing in different design elements to make the design feel varied, custom, and exciting.

When our clients reached out to us, one of their needs was space planning with furniture in their new home. We love helping optimize spaces for the needs of our clients and using the right furniture pieces for their family. The furniture pieces in this room are from our custom House Sprucing furniture line. We love these swivel chairs – they’re so comfortable they make you feel like you’re getting a hug every time you sit in them. The best part, though, is the performance fabric. These pieces are is so durable and act like kryptonite in that they can take a food or juice box spill. They’re perfect for families with kids of all ages!

We loved mixing wood tones in this space. There are a lot of light wood tones but also some darker wood floors that really bring it together to be varied and beautiful. We also love the texture the rug gives; it makes the room feel warm and inviting to come into this space.

The artwork above the fireplace is gorgeous and really brings the space together. The touches of black adds depth and bounces around the room from the piece of art to the coffee table book to the modern just right ceiling fan in this room.

We really love leaning into architectural elements and shapes in design. Like the lines in this home and these beautiful vases and the brass figurine, architectural elements can be so simple yet so impactful and give a lot of strong moments in the design of a room. We also added organic touches and love the live edge on this sofa table.

Be sure to keep following along as we show you more spaces from this home. And contact us today if you need help with space planning and furniture pieces in your home.
