How to Incorporate Fluted Details into Your Home
Add texture and timeless elegance to your home with this eye-catching design trend!
Texture is all the rage when it comes to interiors and we’re always on the hunt for unique ways to incorporate new textures into our designs and fluted details do just that. We love how this detail can be applied to millwork such as cabinetry, doors, walls and furnishings, while also adding a fresh, modern look to upgrade a space.
HOW TO INCORPORATE FLUTED DETAILS
From furnishings and accessories to millwork and cabinetry, there are several ways to incorporate fluted details throughout your home. Let’s dive into some of our favorite ways to execute this design trend!
#1. IN THE KITCHEN
One of our favorite ways to execute this design trend in a kitchen is through cabinetry and millwork. In our kitchen remodel with Mindy McKnight, we designed a custom island with fluted cabinetry on the lower cabinets to add a pop of texture and make a statement as this is the focal point of the overall space. Over at our Drake Project (which is currently in the works), we will also be featuring a beautiful fluted detail on the kitchen island, however at this project, it will be carved into marble instead of wood. If you’re looking for some other ways to incorporate this detail into a kitchen space, we recommend adding it to a kitchen hood, to a pocket door that leads to a prep kitchen or pantry or installing fluted glass to cabinets with open glass doors.
#2. IN THE BATHROOM
Another great space for incorporating fluted details is in the bathroom. Here, we love adding this detail to a vanity or sprucing up the walls with a fluted wall treatment - as seen in our Cedarwood Project Primary Bath. By incorporating this detail into your bathroom, not only will it add texture to the space, but it will elevate the overall design giving it a custom look. We have several projects currently underway that carry this detail into the bathroom and we can’t wait to show you how amazing it looks! Until then, check out the below photo
#3. FURNISHINGS
For those who may be inspired by this trend but aren’t quite ready to go all in with a remodel or new construction project, furniture is an excellent way to infuse fluted details into your home on a budget and without the long-term commitment. End tables, coffee tables, headboards, consoles, nightstands, dressers and desks are great pieces to search for when looking for fluted furnishings. As we mentioned before, we often use fluted details as a way to make a statement and bring texture into a space so opting for a larger furniture piece (such as a bed or coffee table) that typically sits in the center of the room is a great way to infuse this detail and get a feel for the trend.
We’ve loved the impact that fluted details have made on our projects and look forward to finding more unique ways to infuse this beautiful detail. Now that you know some of our favorite ways to incorporate fluted details, how would you choose to bring this look into your home?
