INSPIRED BY: THE PROPER HOTEL

During our time in Austin we stayed at the Proper Hotel and oh my goodness, it is incredible and we’re feeling so inspired by all of the stunning design details carried throughout. The hotel was designed by the iconic Kelly Wearstler who is such an inspiration in the design world. From floral wallpaper on the ceilings and vintage rugs trellising up the stairs to eclectic furniture combinations and mixed patterns and prints, every corner and turn was such a design treat. One of the most inspiring things I noticed was the interchanging details of the wood floors. In every designated space there was a different style of wood floor with different stains and elements that made such an impact. Having these designated designs on the floor really grounded the room you were in and created an experience within every space. One last design detail that really caught my eye was the designer's use of black and white stripes. This is one of my favorite color combos/patterns to incorporate in design and it was so inspiring to see how she designed this detail into the Hotel in a fresh new way.

Beyond the design of the hotel, the food and dining experience at the Proper is also incredible. We ate at the Peacock Mediterranean Grill which is an entire design feast on its own - even without the food! There’s so much beauty to look at, truly no detail was missed in the entire experience at the Proper - even down to the uniforms of the employees. Everyone that worked in the hotel wore these fabulous white linen outfits and funny enough, I just so happened to wear a white linen outfit the day we stayed there and people kept thinking I worked there! Everything about the hotel from the design, dining and staff was so wonderful - we can’t wait to go back!
