Our Top Tips for Summer Styling
There’s something about summertime that makes everyone feel like a kid again. Even without the siren call of two months of vacation we enjoyed as children, there’s something about the warmer days that make things feel more relaxed and fun. We’ve been hard at work in the studio, providing a summer refresh for our clients homes, which led us to wanting to share some of our top summer styling tips for the new season.
Tip #1. Bring the outdoors, inside
Bringing the outdoors, inside is a design staple at House Sprucing. Whether it’s a great seasonal bouquet of peonies in early June, or a display of sunflowers during the dog-days of August, summertime is ripe with fresh florals and greenery that you can bring into your home.
Tip #2. Light up your outdoor living space
Does anyone else feel like their family lives outside in the summertime? We find ourselves being more relaxed with bedtimes for the kids, so they can have a little longer to play in the backyard sprinklers. Summer is a great time to add beautiful lighting to your outdoor living space - whether it’s a statement lighting over a dining table or string lights for a subtle glow.

Tip #3. Use natural fibers
Natural fibers are more comfortable and absorbent than their synthetic counterparts, making them more breathable and cool for hot summer days. One of our favorite natural materials these days is rattan - it’s neutral, while still adding great warmth and dimension to a space. It doesn’t matter what space rattan is in, it screams summertime!
Tip #4. Blue and white accents
Blue and white is such a classic design combo - it’s soothing, calming, and will never go out of style. One of the things that we love in design is creating a neutral base, so we can switch out textiles and accents to complement the new season.
