Homes & Gardens Feature - Modern Farmhouse Living Room Ideas

Designed by House Sprucing

We are so excited to have recently been featured in the Homes & Garden’s article on modern farmhouse design alongside some amazing industry-leading designers like Leanne Ford and Kathy Kuo (just to name a few). The article included tips on creating a cozy farmhouse living room and today we’re sharing some of the tips that we especially love incorporating into our own designs.

Take Inspiration From The Outdoors

Design by Leanne Ford Interiors

Whether it’s greens and florals or landscape paintings, taking inspiration from the outdoors is one of our favorite design elements. Leanne Ford does this beautifully in so many of her designs.

Mix Modern Materials And Antiques

Design by Amber Interiors

Pairing antiques that have been passed down through the generations or an inspiring flea market find with a contemporary end table or chair, will give you that modern farmhouse vibe you’re looking for. Amber Lewis with Amber Interiors put together an antique rustic coffee table with a side chair with modern texture and curves. We love the look she brought together here!

Add High Contrast Colors

Design by Kate Marker Interiors

The article highlights how Kate Marker Interiors does a beautiful job adding high contrast colors saying…

“In this light and bright living room, designed by Kate Marker Interiors, a selection of complimentary colors - from opposite ends of the color wheel - are guaranteed to add drama to any room.”

Go For Different Metals

Design by High Street Homes

This is one of our favorite tips! We love mixing metals into a design, giving your space depth and visual interest. Brett & Kara with High Street Homes mix black metal chairs with brass sconces in this gorgeous living area.

Employ Ropes And Strings

Design by House Sprucing

Something we are loving right now in our living rooms is adding in items that have ropes and rattan texture. Whether it is a roping detail on the side of a chair, a light fixture hanging from a thick rope or drapery tie backs with rope - we can’t get enough of this textured detail that adds some fresh impact.
